Nathan MacKinnon Extends Stellar Performance
Avalanche Force Game 6 in Denver
DALLAS, Texas - Cale Makar's two goals and Nathan MacKinnon's goal and assist powered the Colorado Avalanche to a 5-3 victory over the Dallas Stars in Game 5 of the NHL Western Conference Semifinals on Wednesday night.
The win forces a Game 6 back in Denver on Friday, with the series tied 3-2.
Makar's goals came in the first and third periods, with his second one tying the game at 3-3 late in the third. Wood's game-winning goal came with just over four minutes remaining in regulation.
MacKinnon, who now has a goal and an assist in all five games of the series, extended his point streak to nine games with his ninth goal of the postseason.
The Avalanche also received goals from Gabriel Landeskog and Artturi Lehkonen, while Alexandar Georgiev made 23 saves in the win.
The Stars, who were looking to close out the series at home, were led by Radek Faksa, Roope Hintz, and Jamie Benn, who each scored a goal.
Despite the loss, the Stars still have a chance to win the series in Game 6 on Friday night. However, the Avalanche have now won three straight games in Dallas and will be looking to finish the job in front of their home crowd.
